Positive childhood experiences and the indirect relationship with improved emotion regulation in adults with ADHD through social support
Positive childhood experiences (PCEs) may protect emotion regulation in adults with ADHD through social support, possibly through facilitating social connections, increasing access to social support, and sustaining emotion regulation strategies. Journal of attention disorders 24 June 2024
Feasibility of the Understanding and Managing Adult ADHD Programme: open-access online group psychoeducation and acceptance and commitment therapy for adults with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
Overall, understanding and Managing Adult ADHD Programme (UMAAP) ( a six-session, group-based webinar intervention that incorporates psychoeducation with acceptance and commitment therapy) is a feasible intervention for adults with ADHD. Findings highlighted the feasibility of delivering psychological interventions online in group settings, to increase access to support for adults with ADHD. British journal of psychiatry open 26 September 2024
Real world analysis of treatment change and response in adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) alone and with concomitant psychiatric comorbidities: results from an electronic health record database study is the United States
This real-world study found that treatment change was common among patients with ADHD and psychiatric comorbidities. These findings support the need for future studies to examine the unmet medical and treatment needs of this complex patient population. BMC psychiatry 16 September 2024

Treatment utilization pattern of preschool children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
Rates of treatment have increased over time but are still largely inconsistent with published care guidelines that advise therapy before medication. Clinicians appear to prioritize psychiatric comorbidity and sleep problems when selecting treatments. Journal of attention disorders 12 December 2023
Barriers and enablers of service access and utilization for children and adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A systematic review
Findings highlight the need for ongoing ADHD education for all involved and policy changes to service delivery systems to increase the availability of health providers with specialist ADHD expertise. Journal of attention disorders 11 December 2023
Interdisciplinary insights and global perspectives on ADHD in children: A comprehensive bibliometric analysis (2014–2024)

Depressive symptoms and quality of life among women living with a partner diagnosed with ADHD
The findings suggest that women partnered with individuals diagnosed with ADHD may face an elevated risk of depressive symptoms and lowered quality of life (QoL). The results highlight the potential need for a more comprehensive clinical approach to adult ADHD treatment that considers functional impairments and the experiences of partners. Incorporating health-promoting activities (HPA) into therapeutic strategies appears beneficial. However, longitudinal research is needed to examine the direction of these associations and to develop potential interventions to support these women. Journal of attention disorders 16 September 2024

The relationship between social anxiety disorder and ADHD in adolescents and adults: A systematic review
Individuals with SAD should be screened for ADHD and vice versa, to identify this common comorbidity earlier. Further research is needed to better understand the prevalence of comorbid ADHD and SAD in adolescents. Journal of attention disorders 23 April 2024
A novel self-rating instrument designed for long-term, app-based monitoring of ADHD symptoms: A mixed-methods development and validation study
The mHealth scale for Continuous ADHD Symptom Self-monitoring (mCASS), informed by clinician and patient experiences, appears to be valid for app-based assessment of ADHD symptoms. Furthermore, insights are presented regarding important considerations when developing mobile health (mHealth) instruments for ADHD individuals. These can be of value for future, similar endeavours. Digital health 23 September 2024
Dietary interventions and supplements for managing Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): A systematic review of efficacy and recommendations
This systematic review highlights the potential benefits of dietary modifications and supplements in managing ADHD symptoms. Future research should prioritize long-term efficacy, interactions with conventional medications, and personalized dietary approaches to refine ADHD treatment strategies. Cureus 20 September 2024
Cumulative ADHD medication use and risk of type 2 diabetes in adults: a Swedish Register study
Findings suggest that clinicians should be aware of the potential risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D) associated with the cumulative use of atomoxetine among patients with ADHD; however, further replication is strongly needed. BMJ mental health 25 September 2024
Effect of pharmacological treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder on later psychiatric comorbidity: a population-based prospective long-term study
Overall, linear probability models (LPM) and instrumental variable (IV) analyses did not provide consistent or credible support for long-term effects of pharmacological treatment on later psychiatric comorbidity. However, IV results suggest that for patients on the margin of treatment, pharmacological treatment may initially reduce the incidence of certain categories of comorbid disorders. BMJ mental health 19 September 2024
