Deleting references from groups does not delete it from your EndNote Library
References can not manually be added to smart groups or combined groups; these groups will be updated automatically based on the search stratergy
References can appear in more than one group
You can create up to 500 groups in your EndNote Library
To quickly rename, edit or delete a group, right click on the group name to open a drop down menu
Groups are very important and useful - they are used instead of creating multiple EndNote Libraries.
Use the Groups menu at the top of your EndNote Library to create groups for your references.
Selecting Create Group will add a folder under the My Groups heading
Your My Groups heading can be re-named
Choose Create Group Set to create another heading - useful when different projects, assignments or search topics need to be defined
The creation of a Smart Group is based on a search strategy and will allow references with predetermined characteristics (such as the same author, year or key word) to automatically appear in that particular smart group. This can make both filing and finding certain references very quick and easy, as any reference meeting the criteria will immediately appear in the appropriate smart group.
These clips demonstrates creating Smart and Combination Groups using EndNote 20.
