Welcome to the SA Pharmacy Medicines Information Service

 

The primary role of the Medicines Information (MI) service is to provide patient focused clinical advice to optimise health outcomes. The MI service contributes to the safe and effective use of medicines through the provision of timely, accurate, up-to-date and evidence-based information. The service also contributes to the sustainability of safe medicine use through proactive provision of education, training and clinical research.

 

What can I ask?

Any questions related to the use of prescription or over-the-counter medicines in your patients including:

  • Dose and administration
  • Adverse effects
  • Drug Interactions
  • Stability
  • Intravenous compatibility
  • Product availability or alternatives
  • Use of medicines in pregnancy, breastfeeding and paediatrics
  • Evidence basis of therapeutics

We also:

  • Support clinicians with complex enquiries and decision making
  • Provide a second opinion
  • Provide guidance on information resources
  • Review consumer information
  • Review evidence for clinical guidelines
